Hundreds Of Early Education and School Age Child Care providers to meet at the State House for the annual State House Advocay Day, <del> February 12, 2013.</del>

New Date! Tuesday, March 12, 2013

In roughly two weeks, the Governor will submit his FY ’14 House 1 budget document. We are more hopeful than usual, as last fall, we worked with Commissioner Killins to persuade the EEC Board to recommend to the Governor a $50 Million investment in child care rates and access. Our members have since sent over 1,000 letters to the Governor asking him to support this budget ask.

Once the Governor submits his budget, we turn to our friends in the legislature. Towards that effort, State House Advocacy Day will be held on Tuesday, March 12. Please save the date and plan to bring staff, parents, board members, etc.

Please plan on joining us for this informative and energizing day as we hear from Legislators, colleagues and others about the necessity for safe, affordable early education and school age child care in Massachusetts. For more information, email Bill Eddy at billeddy1@aol.com or Sharon Fileccia MacDonald at sfileccia@hotmail.com. Hope to see you on March 12th!

However, the message wasn’t “Weather’s great. Wish you were here!” Instead, the MADCA postcard campaign delivered a strong message asking for $17 million in order to improve the safety while transporting children to and from child care programs.

MADCA continues to work with legislators and the Administration to support this request, which was proposed by the Board of the Department of Early Education and Care. There’s still time for you to join the campaign! Let us know, and we’ll send you some postcards!
