Senate President Emerita Harriette Chandler Announces Retirement

State Senator Harriette Chandler (D-Worcester) has announced her retirement from the Legislature at the end of her current term. Sen. Chandler has served in the State Senate since 2001, rising to become the 94th Senate President in 2017. Association Executive Director William Eddy joined Sen. Chandler at her press announcement and noted “Harriette Chandler has been a tireless advocate for quality early education throughout her tenure in the Senate and in her prior service in the Massachusetts House. Her efforts to lift wages and provide better health care coverage for early educators have made a tremendous impact on the field and she has long advocated for greater access to subsidy early education services for low-income families and at-risk children. We thank her for all that she has done for the early education field.”
